Mykonos is the most cosmopolitan and hip of the Greek islands, yet remains very traditional, making for an interesting and challenging holiday destination for all types of visitors: straight or gay, families or singles, those seeking adventurous night life or a quiet holiday. There is lots of beach life from 11.00 until 18.00, after which everyone gravitates towards town where the main street, Matogianni, is full of shops, bars and restaurants open until very late. The island's many well-preserved windmills, hundreds of red-roofed churches and its close proximity to the historical island of Delos add a flavour of culture and custom. One of the highlights of Mykonos is the view of the sunset from Little Venice.
